Trusted Traveler Programs (TTPs)

Trusted Traveler Programs are design to help expedite the security processes while traveling. TTPs are officially administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

TSA PreCheck

Expedited airport security screening for low-risk travelers flying domestically (and some international departures).

  • Great if most of your travel is domestic (within the U.S.).
  • Speeds you through airport security lines — no need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts, etc.
  • Cheaper and easier to get than programs focused on international entry.

Cost: $76.75 – good for 5 years.

Global Entry

Expedited customs screening when entering the United States from abroad.
Includes TSA PreCheck eligibility.

  • TSA PreCheck included, plus
  • Expedited customs processing when returning from abroad.

Cost: $120 – good for 5 years.

NEXUS

Expedited border crossing between the U.S. and Canada (jointly managed with Canadian authorities).
Includes Global Entry and TSA PreCheck benefits (with some conditions).

Cost: $120 – good for 5 years.

SENTRI

Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection.
Expedited entry into the U.S. from Mexico via designated lanes.
Includes Global Entry and TSA PreCheck eligibility.

Cost: $120 – good for 5 years.

FAST

Free and Secure Trade.
For pre-approved commercial truck drivers transporting goods across U.S.–Canada and U.S.–Mexico borders.

Cost: $50 – good for 5 years.
